Reflection:
A focal point in my room, I truly enjoy up-keeping, adding, and endorsing my classroom library. Inspired by PLN courses, I started to develop my classroom library towards the end of the 2015-2016 school year. Once I started the LitFit program, I then organized the library by Lexile level, as I view each book as a metaphorical "weight" that a student reader can try in attempts to become better, stronger readers.
This library has moved three times already since its inclination. First, it was near the back window, but because of seating, it eventually got covered up. Then, I had it against the wall, but again, due to seating, it got covered up. Now, it's the first thing you see as soon as you enter my room - and students seem to flock back there, especially during down times or homeroom. Promoting reading has been a welcomed addition to my pedagogy, and developing life-long readers has become one of my major goals as an educator.
