"The Battle"
Even though I can climb vertically and horizontally,
I’m in a constant battle with complacency.
I follow the trees that lead up to the library with the perfect song that pops up on shuffle,
But yet I battle complacency.
I see students frantically rushing to their classes to earn degrees,
Juxtaposed with squirrels frantically gathering nuts to take up into their comfortable trees -
Yet they both battle complacency.
I am progressing,
This I know for a fact.
But when I return to normalcy,
I’m still in a constant battle with complacency.

But when I return to normalcy,
I’m still in a constant battle with complacency.
